The Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County recently hosted its fifth annual Native American Revival, Crusade For Christ, The Great Awakening of the Holy Spirit.
A tribe news release noted that the guest evangelist was Chief Steve Silverheels, a Mohawk and Seneca Indian. Silverheels is the son of actor Jay Silverheels, who played Tonto on the old TV series “The Lone Ranger.”
Catherine Nelson, with Keepers of the Word, a group of drummers out of South Carolina, provided the interdenominational worship music and prayer songs.
Pastor Andre Best, out of Richmond, graced the revival with his Shofar Ministry.
After the preached word, all in attendance were invited into the sacred circle for a one-on-one anointing and prayer.
The release stated that many claimed their spiritual and physical healing while accepting Christ Jesus / Yashua as their Lord and Savior.
Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown thanked all the tribal members that worked so hard in setting up the tribal grounds in preparation for the revival.
“We also appreciate all the donations that were made toward the continuation of the ministry,” he said.
