ALLEN, Texas – John A. Ward Jr., 66, of Allen, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. John was born Feb. 2, 1956 in Franklin, Virginia where he lived until moving to New York City when he was 11 years old. He spent his summers in Franklin with his grandfather, Ryland Cobb and his great-aunt, Anne Cobb.

John was known for his love of family, his computer, the stock market and the U.S. Marine Corps and his home was always a haven for countless dogs.

John was the son of Antha Jean Cobb Ward Udell of Allen, Texas, a native of Franklin where she taught dancing for many years. He was predeceased by his father, John A. Ward. John leaves a son, Daniel Anthony Ward and his wife, Mayra of Lavon, Texas. He is survived by his sister, Antha Anne Ward Bishop and her husband, Dan of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; his half-sister, Patti Skok of Danbury, Connecticut; and two half-brothers, Anthony Ward of Chesapeake and Mark Ward of Boise, Idaho; four granddaughters, Alina Ward, Kaylee Ramos, Madelyn and Ariana Ward; three grandsons, Marcus and Jonathon Ward of Plano, Texas and Sky Sheldon of Antrim, Michigan; and two great-grandsons, Oliver and Kaiden Ward.

John served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his discharge he was an independent contractor computer programmer for many national corporations and was employed for the past 20 years with Interstate Batteries as lead technical architect.

John’s inurnment will be held at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 18, 2022.
