Southampton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Franklin man Friday, Oct. 7, in connection with a shooting that took place Thursday evening, Oct. 6.

The sheriff’s office news release stated that at about 7:38 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to the 32000 block of Beaton Road for an individual that had been shot.

The victim, a 51-year-old female, had been shot twice and was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of her injuries, police said. She was alert and responsive when she was transported.

Deputies began a search for the alleged shooter, the release stated. Around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Theo Ethan Beale, 27, of Franklin, was taken into custody by the sheriff’s office without incident.

Police said Beale has been charged with two counts of reckless handling of a firearm, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated malicious wounding.

“We would like to thank the Virginia State Police for their assistance during the search for Beale,” sheriff’s office officials stated.
