FRANKLIN – Mary Estelle Schnitzer passed away peacefully on Sept. 24, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in New York City and raised in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Edward J. Diesel Sr. and Maye H. Wherry Diesel.

Mary attended Mountain Lakes High School. She lived in Boonton Township, New Jersey and Mountain Lakes, New Jersey before moving to Doylestown, Pennsylvana. Mary and John owned Highland Farms Bed and Breakfast in Doylestown, Pennsylvana, the former home of Oscar Hammerstein II. Mary then moved to Edgewater, Maryland followed by a move to Franklin.

Mary’s passion was for renovating homes. She was an interior decorator and enjoyed blending the two together. Living in Franklin she made many dear friends and coworkers at Belks. Mary enjoyed fashion and worked in retail for many years. She was always ready for after work socializing with her “heart medicine” or wine time with neighbors and loved ones. We know she enjoyed living here and spending her last days with friends and family.

Mary leaves behind two daughters, Dawn E. Kologi of New Jersey and Jacquelyne E. “Jackie” Sherrill of North Carolina; two sons, David E. Schnitzer of New Jersey and John E. “Jamie” Schnitzer of Pennsylvania; four brothers, Donald, Robert, David and Raymond Diesel; a grandson and cat, Fall.

Services will be private. Memorial donations can be made to Traditions Health Hospice Care of Newport News, VA.
