FRANKLIN – Sylvia Williams Stradley, 89, passed away Sept 12, 2022 in her home with family by her side. Born in Suffolk, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thaddeus Williams and Nell Witchard Williams. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ralph Thomas Stradley and a sister, Joann Williams.

Sylvia was a graduate of Suffolk High School and

of Mary Washington College. She was the former owner and operator of Dockside Restaurant. Sylvia was a member of the Franklin Woman’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, and of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. She was an avid Bridge player.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Katrine Stradley Spruill (Dennis); two sons, Joseph William Stradley (Estelle) and James Marvin Stradley (Ginger); a sister, Betsy W. Brothers; six grandchildren, Jay T. Stradley, Denton Spruill, Sarah Bryant, Shirley Lee Rountree, Jacob Fields and Trista Kelley; and several great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15 in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to CHKD or Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
