The Virginia State Police engaged in the pursuit of a Sedley man Friday evening, Aug. 26, after he was allegedly speeding and refused to pull over, hitting multiple police vehicles during the chase. Police took him into custody when the pursuit ended with his arrival at his home.

A VSP news release stated that at about 10:14 p.m., a 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in a 25-mph zone and passing vehicles on a solid white line in the town of Ivor. 

A trooper initiated a traffic stop, and the driver refused to pull over, police said. A running roadblock was initiated with the assistance of other troopers but was unsuccessful. 

“Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle several times using the running road block method unsuccessfully, and in the attempts, the suspect struck the troopers’ (three) vehicles in an attempt to escape,” VSP officials stated in the release.

Police said the pursuit ended when the suspect driver, 29-year-old Joshua Ryan Boeving, of the 15100 block of Ivor Road in Sedley, pulled into his driveway/residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Boeving was charged with driving under the influence, no license, reckless driving, and felony elude, the release noted. The case will be taken before the commonwealth’s attorney to determine if further charges are pending.
