COURTLAND – Mary Ruth Hughes Davidson, 83, passed away on Aug. 24, 2022 in her home with family by her side. Born in Goochland County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey Carlyle Hughes and Lacy Bell Carter Hughes. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley Davidson; two sisters, Betty Lou Sharpe and Margaret Payne; and a brother, Carter Hughes.

Mary was a graduate of Goochland High School and attended Beaver Dam Baptist Church and Franklin Baptist Church. She was a member of High Street Seniors and Hunterdale Seniors.

She enjoyed shopping, taking scenic rides with her daughter, Gwen, and in her most recent years enjoyed spending time at the Outer Banks with her family, especially her grandson, Devin. She also enjoyed for many years traveling to the mountains in the fall, especially the Skyline Drive.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gregory Madison Davidson of Courtland, Pamela Lynn Haydu (Billy) of Franklin and Gwen R. Fisher (David) of Courtland; a sister, Vernelle Payne of Goochland; four grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley Haydu and Devin and Ryan Fisher; and a special sister-in-law, Doris Hughes of Goochland.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 in Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Gibson and the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday in Wright Funeral Home and suggests that memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
