Rock Church Franklin kicked off the summer with two action-packed basketball camps.

A church news release stated that June 28-July 1, a total of 112 campers filed through the Ben S. Dillon Life Center, located in Hunterdale. The Super Kids Basketball Camp and the Rock Basketball Camp were at capacity this year.

As an alternative to traditional Vacation Bible School, Rock Church hosts multiple sports camps throughout the summer. These camps give children a way to stay physically active during the summer while also teaching them valuable lessons in teamwork.

The Super Kids Basketball Camp is designed to teach younger kids the basics of the game, and the Rock Basketball Camp is geared towards developing the skills of older athletes.

Pastor Danny Dillon teamed up with one of his former players, now a professional, Adam Grant, to pass the love of the game on to the next generation. Multiple Rock Church High School players also assisted in facilitating the Super Kids camp.

The objective of both camps is the same — to teach kids to love the game of basketball while teaching them that God loves them.

Church officials noted that this year’s theme was “I Thank God,” because “no matter what life hands you, there is always something for which to be thankful.”

Officials offered special thanks to all of the parents that sent their children to the camps.
