Camp25 and the Franklin Department of Parks and Recreation hosted a soccer league at Armory Field that drew 117 children this year, including those from Franklin, Southampton County, Isle of Wight County and Suffolk.

The league, now in its fourth year, features two age divisions — one for 4- to 7-year-olds and the other for 8- to 14-year-olds.

Families gathered around the two soccer fields set up at Armory Field on Thursday night, June 23, to watch as the children competed during one of the league’s game dates.

“The league is going great,” Camp25 Executive Director Eric Benton said during a Sunday, June 26, interview. “Our youth are learning, and the kids are having fun. Huge ‘thank you’ to our coaches, parents and Franklin Parks and Recreation.”

Benton emphasized the importance of Franklin Parks and Rec, noting that Camp25’s league is in a partnership with the city department, which is serving as the league’s sponsor.

“They are a huge reason for the success of our league,” he said.
