Twenty Vietnam War-era veterans received their official lapel pins during the GFWC Sedley Woman’s Club’s 21st annual Veterans Recognition Program on July 2. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Sedley Woman’s Club held its 21st annual Veterans Recognition Program July 2 at Grace Memorial United Methodist Church in Sedley.
A club news release stated that 35 veterans and an additional 50 club, family and community members attended this special program.
Twenty Vietnam-era veterans received their official Vietnam War lapel pins.
The Vietnam War Commemoration Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pinning Ceremony was conducted by Commander Phil Haley and Quartermaster Susan Moore of Sgt. USMC Jayton D. Patterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4411.
“GFWC Sedley Woman’s Club is grateful to have partnered with VFW Post 4411 for this opportunity to recognize and honor the Vietnam veterans,” club officials stated.
Patriotic music, the recognition of the veterans by branch of service, the acknowledgement of deceased local veterans, the display and explanation of the “missing man table” and refreshments rounded out the service.
“Thank you to all veterans for your service,” club officials stated to conclude the release.
