Isle of Wight County Parks and Recreation held its inaugural “Bark in the Park” fundraiser on June 4 to benefit the animal service departments in Franklin, and Isle of Wight and Southampton counties, as well as the Isle of Wight County Humane Society.

The event raised more than $1,500 in cash donations and collected supplies valued at more than $1,500.

The event, held at Nike Park in Carrollton, featured a pet fashion show, face painting, therapy dog visits, on-site pet adoptions and animal-related vendors. There, Isle of Wight and Franklin animal services were able to adopt out 10 cats and dogs.
