A CSX train struck a motor vehicle Wednesday evening, July 6, in Southampton County, according to a news release from Virginia State Police. No one was injured in the crash.
At about 8:56 p.m., state police were called to investigate the incident, which occurred on Shady Brook Trail.
The driver of a 2012 Kia, Jackie La-Tia Cooke, became disabled on the train tracks, police said. As the train approached, Cooke, the Kia’s sole occupant, was able to exit the vehicle before it was struck by the CSX train. There were no injuries to Cooke and minor damage to the train.
