Blackwater Regional Library will host a six-week summer reading program for youth that will run June 25-Aug. 6.

A library news release continued by stating that the summer’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and that a variety of programs will be offered for families to enjoy.

Presentations by Bright Star Theatre, Mad Science, the Virginia Aquarium, Mariners’ Museum and the Virginia Living Museum are just a few programs the library will offer that are both educational and entertaining.

This summer is all about exploring what the local library has to offer — no reading goals to meet, just a summer packed with activities for the whole family.

The Summer Reading Program Impact Study, conducted by the Library of Virginia, showed children and teens who attended summer reading programs performed better academically and experienced greater gains in their academic performance than their non-participating peers. Participants outperformed nonparticipants on tests across all measures and grades, kindergarten through eighth grade.
