Franklin High School’s varsity boys soccer team earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Region 1B Tournament before going on to host No. 6 Galileo Magnet High School in the semifinals May 31.

The Broncos controlled the game at times against the Falcons but could not break through for a goal, finding themselves locked in a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation at Armory Field. Two automatic 5-minute overtime sessions followed, with the teams switching sides of the field after the first five minutes.

Galileo managed to score in the first 5-minute overtime, and though the Broncos threatened on offense, the Falcons held on for a 1-0 victory.

They took on No. 4 Riverheads High School in the championship Thursday, June 2, and the Gladiators narrowly prevailed, 2-1.

Franklin finished its 2022 season with an overall record of 8-8-1.
