A fun day event will be held by Faith Works Fellowship Cathedral on Saturday, May 28, in the Berkley Court area of Franklin from noon-5 p.m. to serve as an encouragement to the residents there in the wake of the April 15 explosion that heavily impacted the area.

On the night of April 15, there was an explosion in a duplex on Cameron Street that resulted in the death of a male resident, Michael Wiggins, and critical injuries to a female victim. The preliminary investigation indicates it was a propane explosion.

The propane has been turned off in the area for more than a month, leaving residents without hot water.

Organizers of Saturday’s event were seeking to give Berkley residents a retreat from their present difficulties. Offerings of the event include, but are not limited to, bounce houses for the children and counseling services for those affected by the blast.
