FRANKLIN – Larry Dean Tillett, 80, passed away on May 12, 2022 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Raymon Lee Tillett and Janie Gregory Tillett. He was also predeceased by a sister, Dolores T. Whitley.

Larry was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School and a graduate of Newport News Apprentice School. He was the owner of R. L. Tillett Sheet Metal Fabrication Company. Larry was a life-long bow hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of Burdette Baptist Church and a former member of Tucker Swamp Baptist. Larry was very active in Baptist ministries and went on two mission trips to Peru. He also went to Kansas to help with tornado relief and to Mississippi to help with hurricane relief after Katrina. Larry also helped build houses for the less fortunate in Bland County.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of over 60 years, Adeline Harcum Tillett; three sons, Michael W. Tillett (Michelle) of Franklin, Mark E. Tillett (Teri) of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and Jason E. Tillett of Courtland; six grandchildren, Courtney Tillett, Gray Tillett, Bill Cones, Taylor Tillett, Meagan T. Barber (Roclun) and Miranda Tillett; three great-grandchildren, Gianna, Mackenzie and Kynlee; and a brother-in-law, James D. “Bunk” Whitley of Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery off of Homestead Road in Franklin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Burdette Baptist Church or the Bland Ministry Center, P.O. Box 211, Bland, VA 24315.
