The varsity boys tennis match between Franklin High School and Appomattox Regional Governor’s School started on April 26 on the clay courts at the Country Club of Petersburg. The match was interrupted by inclement weather and finally resumed Monday, May 1, in Franklin, with the Broncos emerging as the victors.
Very early in the match on April 26, a severe thunderstorm quickly approached, stopping play and forcing the Franklin team to shelter at the tennis facility for about two hours.
ARGS ultimately agreed to come to Franklin to finish the match.
As the contest finally came down to its last doubles competition Monday, the Broncos claimed the victory over the Dragons with an overall match score of 6-3.
The win pushed Franklin’s overall record for the season to 6-4.
