Franklin gun violence and narcotics investigation leads to arrest

An arrest of a Franklin resident and seizure of a firearm, narcotics and U.S. currency Saturday, April 16, in Franklin resulted from a search warrant that was the product of an investigation into acts of gun violence and narcotics distribution in the city, police said.

An April 16 Franklin Police Department press release stated that officers of the department, assisted by the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police, executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Cool Spring Street.

In addition to the firearm, narcotics and money seizure, the release noted that officers arrested Trayshon Davelle Lawson, a 30-year-old Franklin resident, adding that Lawson was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and distribution of a controlled substance. 

Police said Lawson was being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

Information that leads to an arrest can earn the caller a cash reward while remaining anonymous.
