Franklin City Public Schools shared a statement in the early afternoon on April 7 that all after-school activities for the school division would be canceled for the day due to expected inclement weather.

The statement noted that this weather could include high wind speeds, heavy rain and hail.

A hazardous weather outlook released on the morning of April 7 from the National Weather Service predicts the following for a variety of regional localities, including Southampton County and Isle of Wight County: “Showers and thunderstorms will accompany a cold front today. A few strong-to-severe storms are possible this afternoon and early evening with the main threat being large hail and damaging wind gusts.”
