ZUNI – Lloyd Reynolds Shaffer Jr., 84, passed away on Feb. 21, 2022 in his home with family by his side. Born in Pendleton, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Lloyd Reynolds Shaffer Sr. and Ella Sue Gunn Shaffer. He was also predeceased by a son, Larry R. Shaffer; a sister, Frances Fowler and a brother, Roy Shaffer.

Lloyd was an Army veteran and a shift foreman in the paper mill for Union Camp Corporation. He was a member of Sedley Hunt Club, loved his motorcycles and enjoyed flounder fishing on the Eastern Shore. Lloyd was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Joyce Brewer Shaffer; a daughter, Terry S. Whitehead (Wayne); a son, Gary B. Shaffer (Kathy); a sister, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Eric Whitehead, Luke Whitehead (Lexi), Kelsey Shaffer, Chase Shaffer, Kimberly Shaffer, Shelby Shaffer, Amber Lee and Jessica Bolton (Mike); five great-grandchildren, Emilee Whitehead, Savannah Turner, Matthew Lee, McKenna Bolton and Brantley Bolton; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence after the service and suggests that memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church.
