Southampton County Public Schools announced Sunday afternoon, Jan. 23, on social media that all schools, offices and buildings will be closed Monday, Jan. 24, and Franklin City Public Schools and Southampton Academy announced they will be on two-hour delays.

On its Facebook page, SCPS’ post stated that there will be no school Jan. 24 “due to the anticipated remnants of snow and potential black ice on our roads.”

The post concluded by telling students, “See you Tuesday.”

FCPS shared a press release Sunday evening stating that the decision had been made to open its schools and central office two hours later than usual Monday.

On its Facebook page, Southampton Academy stated Sunday evening that it will operate on a two-hour delayed start Monday.

“Early morning care will not operate,” the post added. “Classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Hot lunch will be chicken nuggets and fries.”
