Franklin City Public Schools and the school system’s Central Office will operate on a 2-hour delay Tuesday, Jan. 4, because of potential road hazards, according to a school district spokesperson.

FCPS includes S.P. Morton Elementary School, J.P. King Jr. Middle School and Franklin High School.

The school system closed Monday, Jan. 3, due to the forecast for inclement weather, which the National Weather Service indicated could include new snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches in the Western Tidewater area.

The NWS was reporting clear conditions for Franklin on Monday evening but with a low around 21 and a north wind of 6-13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
