New Life Church in Franklin, led by Senior Pastor Dr. Eric Majette, is helping a portion of the population that he noted is often overlooked during the holiday season.
“God put on my heart to do something for seniors,” Majette said.
He noted that the church is spreading love and cheer to seniors throughout the Franklin region by distributing care packages in the week leading up to Christmas.
“We’re embracing the Courtland Rehab Center and Springdale area,” he said.
He has helped his church partner with several organizations to put together a collection of practical items for seniors, expanding from a program that started with the name Socks for Seniors and that has now expanded to be known as a Socks and Gifts for Seniors Giveaway.
On Sunday, Dec. 19, 88 gift bags were delivered to residents of Courtland Health & Rehabilitation Center, Majette stated Monday, adding that later in the week, 100 additional gifts would be distributed to the elderly.
“With all of the things that they’ve gone through, we want to make sure that we’re going to give them support,” Majette said.
