At Meherrin Elementary School, budding fifth-grade scientists, Laney Butler, left, and Shaniyah Carrington, right, peer into their microscopes to look at plant and animal cells. All of the students in Mrs. Wise’s fifth-grade science class took turns preparing slides and viewing them using microscopes to make comparisons between the two cell types.
