Sedley Events hosted two separate days of a Thanksgiving meal giveaway this year to help senior citizens and people in need that are Sedley residents, and Day 1 on Sunday, Nov. 21, went well.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, organizers handed out unprepared meal kits that will feed a family of up to 10 members. Each kit included a turkey or ham, collards and kale, green beans, stuffing mix, potatoes, canned yams, gravy mix, cornbread pudding mix, dinner rolls, a pie and a one-time-use pan in which to cook the turkey or ham.

Photos taken by volunteers at the Sedley firehouse showcase the kits, their contents and volunteers busily preparing them for distribution.

Day 2 of the Thanksgiving meal giveaway was held Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Day, when organizers opened up the firehouse in Sedley, which is located at 18080 Johnsons Mill Road, to serve prepared meals for either dine-in, carryout or delivery within Sedley. All of the same aforementioned food items were prepared and served on this day.
