The Alzheimer’s Association will hold an Alzheimer’s Community Forum for the Franklin and Southampton County areas Tuesday, Dec. 7, that will serve as a listening session for the association.

The free event, with open registration, will run from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Hayden Village Center.

The forum, which features the association joined by Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, will review the basics of Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory loss as well as the services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association and how that organization can expand the reach of local programs and services.

Mary Sandridge, the director of communications and marketing for the association’s Central and Western Virginia and Greater Richmond chapters, said, “We are excited to partner with churches and other agencies in the region to help promote a discussion about how the programs and services of the association can reach more people in the region who need care, support and education.”

The association is encouraging people in the area to bring a friend to the forum and share their thoughts on how the Alzheimer’s Association can help more people in the community.

There will be to-go box lunches at the forum provided by The Village at Woods Edge.

Hayden Village Center is located 680 Oak St. in Franklin.

Those interested in attending are asked to register prior to the event by calling 800-272-3900.
