FRANKLIN – Willard Ray Hatfield, 81, widower of Judith Butler Hatfield, passed away Nov. 24, 2021 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Franklin on March 1, 1940, he was a son of the late Ashley Phillip Hatfield and Katherline Forbes Hatfield. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Natalie Joy Hatfield.

Willard was a graduate of Franklin High School and a Virginia National Guardsman. He worked at the A&P Store

for many years and drove a truck for Star Foods before joining his wife, Judy, in the catering business. He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Michael Ray Hatfield and his wife, Tina of Franklin; a brother, Alfred Lee Hatfield and his wife, Carol; three grandsons, Joshua, Zachary and Andrew Hatfield; and a great-granddaughter, Zora Hatfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
