Sedley Events is one of many great organizations in our community doing amazing things all year long, but we have them especially top of mind as we enter the holiday season.

This year, the organization will be hosting two events to help locals enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

In one event, the organization will be distributing up to 50 unprepared meal kits that include turkey or ham, different types of green vegetables, stuffing, potatoes, canned yams, a pie and more fixings, including a one-time-use pan to use while cooking the entree.

All of the same food items, prepared and ready to eat, will also be available during a Thanksgiving Day meal distribution based at the firehouse in Sedley. People can visit from noon to 6 p.m. for dine-in or carryout, or they can get delivery if they request it ahead of time.

There is no charge for either the meal kits or the Thanksgiving Day prepared meal.

Sedley Events President Brandon Cook stated he and his organization want to help people in the community.

“We want to target our shut-ins, people with disabilities, caretakers, financially troubled people, emotionally troubled people, anyone that cannot be with family or friends for a holiday,” he stated.

We tip our hats to Cook, to Sedley Events and to all of the other volunteers with this organization and those who will be helping these events come to fruition. They are taking time from their holiday to help others enjoy theirs, and for that, we certainly give thanks.
