To the Editor:

This is an open letter to Mr. Youngkin, Ms. Sears and Mr. Miyares.

Congratulations! You won. You ran fair, positive and sensible campaigns, and a slim majority of Virginians paid attention. Yours was not a landslide, however, and I am deeply worried that more than a million Virginians voted for your opponents.

Your election has already been called racist by many, even though one of you is non-white and the other is the son of Cubans. I think you have proved that Virginia is not racist and (unlike President Biden’s assertion) systemic racism is not America’s greatest challenge. Our biggest challenge for more than a decade has been Mr. Obama’s promise to “fundamentally transform America.” Your opponents have subscribed to that transformation promise by promoting gender neutrality, school closings, CRT in our schools, removing parents from the education scenario, rethinking and restructuring our police departments, weakening our military, allowing an invasion at our Southern border, mask mandates, vaccination mandates, and numerous other liberal socialist ideas. Virginians (at least a majority) are sick of it. Our success on Nov. 2 is a much-needed first step to defeating the pathetic Biden/Pelosi/Schumer/Cortez/Northam agenda.

Those of us who voted for you expect you to live up to your campaign promises of sensible government, responsible leadership, law and order, equal opportunity (not equity of outcome) and common-sense education to prepare our grandchildren to continue in your footsteps. If you fail to do these things, I promise you, the next election is only four years away, and most of us have good memories. Godspeed.
