Franklin Waddill Davis

Mr. Davis passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14. Frank was a native of Franklin, Virginia and the son of the late Evander Ayers Davis and Emma Waddill Davis. He attended Asbury Methodist Church. Frank will be remembered for his friendly face, joking personality and the ability to never meet a stranger.

After retiring at 54, Frank found a second career as a devoted volunteer at Providence Hospital for over 25 years. He was very proud of the relationships that he shared with patients, employees and fellow volunteers. He was also a Boy Scout leader for many years at Shandon Methodist Church. One of his proudest moments was when his son, Greg, achieved his Eagle Scout award. Most importantly, he was devoted to his family and treasured his time with his five grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Poppy Pops.”

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Diana Anderson Davis of Columbia, South Carolina; son, Franklin Gregory Davis (Priscilla) of Lexington, South Carolina; daughter, Nicole Davis Wilke (Brady) of Columbia, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Carson Elizabeth Davis, Madison Scarlet Davis, Jocelyn Lenore Davis, Ava Ayers Wilke and Patrick Anderson Wilke; sister, Emily Joyce “Joy” Davis of Franklin; and his beloved and longtime caregiver, Bellevidine Little.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors, friends and caretakers who have devoted their time, love and care throughout his life.
