Police apprehend suspect in robbery, abduction

Franklin Police Department detectives received assistance from the Murfreesboro Police Department in locating and apprehending the suspect in an alleged robbery and abduction reported to have occurred at the Franklin Walmart, located at 100 Councill Drive.

An Oct. 9 FPD press release stated that officers of the department responded to the reported robbery and abduction Oct. 8.

“It was reported that at approximately 10 p.m., the victim was approached by an unknown Black male who requested money to purchase gasoline but then displayed a firearm and forced the subject to enter the store and withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash from the automated teller machine,” officials stated in the release. “The victim was then forced to drive the suspect to an unknown location in North Carolina.”

Detectives of the FPD responded and began an investigation. The release stated that the suspect was identified as Junior Devon Williams, a 39-year-old resident of Conway, North Carolina. 

Arrest warrants were obtained charging Williams with robbery, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, use of a firearm while committing a robbery and abduction. 

The release stated that Williams was being held at the Hertford County Jail without bond pending extradition proceedings.
