FRANKLIN – Donna Marie Rogers went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2021. She was a resident of Franklin for over 38 years. She was born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia where she was a graduate of Forest Glen High School, Class of 1973. Donna was married to Don for 48 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Worth and Dot Davenport, a sister, Deborah “Debbie” Turner and infant nephew Jason Turner.

Donna’s passion in life was her love of baton twirling and dance. She was head majorette in high school and went on to teach hundred of girls across Suffolk, Franklin and Isle of Wight County for over 30 years. Donna was a member of the Sedley Woman’s Club. In most recent years, she loved refinishing furniture.

Donna is survived by her husband, Don Rogers; daughters, Sheree Marlin (Dale), Meredith Taylor (Chip); sister, Shannon Ward (Jerry); brother, Sonny Davenport; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Easton, and Kendley; and nephews, Jacob Ward and Coty Ward (Landyn). She was fondly known to her grandchildren as “Ma.”

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23434. The Rev. Jim Rogers will officiate. The family will greet guests after the service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
