SMITHFIELD – Allie B. Whitehead Baker of Smithfield, departed her earthly life and succumbed to eternal rest on Sept. 24, 2021. The Southampton County native was born June 2, 1929, the daughter of Jessie and Lottie Branch Whitehead.

Mother Baker was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served for many years as an Usher and Mother of the Church. During her working years, Allie Bee was employed with Planters Peanuts and retired after 30 years of service.

Allie Bee was the widow of Raleigh Baker and she was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Francine Tillery (Lee); beloved grandson and precious great grandchildren, Terry T. Hayes (Tamera), Imani, Nia, Caleb, Robin Garris, Shawanda Epps (Angelo) and Nicole Garris; one sister-in-law, Eunice Whitehead; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 12:30 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, at noon in Oak Grove Baptist Church, 35441 South Quay Road, Franklin with her pastor, the Rev.
