The Sedley Volunteer Fire Department honored eight senior firemen Friday, Sept. 3, by awarding them lifetime membership status in the department. The department created a “challenge coin” with the Sedley Volunteer Fire Department badge on one side and the Virginian Railway logo on the other. The Virginian logo is a symbol of Sedley’s railroad history, as the Virginian Railway ran through Sedley and had a depot there. The honorees were the first men to be given these special coins.
