The Southampton County School Board has announced to parents and community members that it will be holding a special called meeting Aug. 31 at 5:30 p.m.

On the Southampton County Public Schools website, the school division stated the board will convene to discuss personnel and student matters in the Wigwam area of Southampton High School, which is located at 23350 Southampton Parkway in Courtland.

A possible topic of conversation will be the principal position at Southampton High School.

Culpeper County Public Schools announced Aug. 27 on its Facebook page that it was welcoming Aronda Bell as the new activities director at Eastern View High School. Bell, who has been the principal at Southampton High School, is set to start in her new role Sept. 1.

The CCPS press release noted that Bell had served as the principal of Southampton High for the last three years. A significant portion of her 26 years of experience in education came in Southampton County, as prior to serving as high school principal she served as the school’s assistant principal for 10 years and physical education teacher and activities director for eight years.
