WAKEFIELD – Beatrice “Bea” Duck Huber, 77, of Wakefield, answered the call to go home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021. Born in Isle of Wight County in Burdette, near Walters to the late Percy Lee Duck and Lillian Bradshaw Duck. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, David William Huber and her brother, Robert Thomas (Bobby) Duck.

Bea began school in Sussex County and finished in Smithfield High in Isle of Wight. Her heart always remained with those in Waverly High. In March 1962 she married David William Huber and resided in Surry County on the Huber family farm, building their home there in 1967.

She leaves three daughters, Sharon H. Atkins (Donald), Patricia H. Warriner (Donnie) and Janet H. Cowling (William); five grandchildren, Carrie, Forrest, Regan, Marc and Dean; one great-grandchild, Rhett.

Bea was a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church and active in many church activities, playing piano, organ and helping with Bible school in the summer. She enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing for their three girls, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables from their garden. Other hobbies included, camping, boating, refinishing furniture, embroidery, cross-stitch and Sudoku puzzles. She also worked outside the home, employed in several places over the years. She was secretary at Tidewater Academy upper school for 12 years from 1973-1985. In 1991 she began employment with the Virginia State Police in the Waverly office working part-time for 15 years, leaving in 2006 to retire.

The family will received friends on Saturday, Aug. 14 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Rocky Hock Cemetery Perpetual Care, C/O Paul Rogers, 1233 Southampton Road, Wakefield, VA 23888.
