Franklin police obtain arrest warrants for murder suspect

Detectives of the Franklin Police Department obtained arrest warrants July 28 for a suspect in the Nov. 8, 2020, murder of Delvontae Boone.

Police stated in a news release that the warrants are for Melkwane Remony Mitchell. Currently wanted on the charges of felony homicide and reckless handling of a firearm, Mitchell is considered to be armed and dangerous and is described as a 29-year-old male who is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall.

At 2:37 a.m. Nov. 8, officers responded to the 600 block of Oak Street for a report of shots fired. While canvassing the area, officers located the victim of a gunshot who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim of the homicide was later identified as Boone, a 28-year-old resident of Franklin.
