Franklin police investigate homicide, drive-by shooting

Franklin police responded in the early morning of July 8 to a shooting that resulted in homicide and injury, and they also responded to a shooting in the early evening of July 7 that resulted in injury.
In a Franklin Police Department news release, police stated that at 12:05 a.m. on July 8, the FPD Communications Center received a call of shots fired in the 1600 block of Dorchester Street. Officers arrived on scene and found a 26-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The male, identified as Khadduri Brown, was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release stated.
Police continued by stating that further information was obtained that a second victim who was shot had driven himself to Southampton Memorial Hospital. Officers responded and found a 24-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening. Earlier in the evening, at 7:20 p.m. July 7, the FPD Communications Center received a call of shots fired in the 1300 block of Mariner Street, the release stated. Officers arriving on scene found a 22-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken by helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The investigations on these incidents are still ongoing, and police said that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
