Isle of Wight County’s School Board has moved up the time of its meeting Thursday due to a forecast of inclement weather from Tropical Storm Elsa.

The meeting was originally to start at 5 p.m. with an hour of closed session discussions followed by the open meeting resuming at 6 p.m. Now the meeting will convene at 3 p.m. with the closed session lasting from 3-4 p.m.

When the meeting reconvenes into open session at 4 p.m., the Board will conduct its scheduled business for the evening. At 6 p.m. the Board will recognize its Isle of Wight Achievers, special presentations, citizen comments, public input on the draft school resource officer memorandum of understanding, and comments from board members.

The meeting will still be held in Smithfield High School’s auditorium and be streamed live through the school division’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The meeting agenda is available at: https://www.iwcs.k12.va.us/apps/pages/schoolboardmeetings.
