Riverdale Elementary School named April Lane as its 2021 Teacher of the Year. A school press release noted Lane currently teaches third-grade math and has been instructing students for 26 years. She is an honor graduate of East Carolina University and continues to guide students each year to achieve their own honors. Lane has accumulated experience in first, second, third, fourth and fifth grades during her years of teaching. She is a member of the Riverdale Elementary School Leadership Team and serves as a role model for her colleagues. According to Lane, “I hope to make children realize that all of them have a contribution they can make to society and to gain satisfaction from knowing that I have been a small part of that contribution.”
