FRANKLIN – John Francis Pittman, 58, passed away June 13, 2021 in his home. Born in Franklin on July 16, 1962, he was a son the late William Thomas “Tommy” Pittman Jr. and Frances Gillette Pittman. John was also predeceased by a brother, Hugh G. Pittman.

John was a 1980 graduate of Southampton Academy and a graduate of North Carolina State University. He was a long-time Southampton County farmer, an avid hunter and attended Sedley Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his soulmate, Tammy Lowe; his daughter, Mary Frances Birckhead (Drew); a step-son, Brent Doughtie; two brothers, William T. “Bill” Pittman III (April) and B. Wilmer Pittman (Linda); three grandchildren, Jessa, Parker and Reagan; and his extended family, Winston Lowe (Lindsay), Matt Lowe (Kelsey), Kaydence, Addison, Rolli Beth, Lottye Jo and Allie; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 in Sedley Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Foreman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Sedley Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
