Southampton County Sheriff Josh A. Wyche Sr. recently responded with encouragement to area kindergarten students who had expressed interest in joining law enforcement one day.
Capron Elementary School noted in a press release that earlier this school year, The Tidewater News ran pictures of local elementary school children in kindergarten as they declared what they wanted to be when they grew up. Several Capron Elementary students stated they wanted to be law enforcement officers.
“Our local sheriff’s department, led by Sheriff Josh Wyche, saw these pictures and decided to surprise these students with a visit as well as gift bags to acknowledge their desire to one day serve the community,” officials said in the release. “We are so fortunate to have the relationship and support from our local sheriff’s department and really appreciated their effort to make these kindergarten students feel special.”
