As gas prices continue to rise, not only do they impact us at the pump, but they mean higher shipping costs too. Of course, higher shipping costs mean the price of goods also rises. More out-of-pocket expense for gas and now more out-of-pocket expense for goods — what’s a body to do?

One relatively easy way to cut costs at the pump is to shop and buy local. Shopping local means you will save on gas, which is good for the wallet, and at the same time, you will be supporting your local community and its businesses. That’s good for all of us.

Money spent here at home is money well spent. Locally owned businesses tend to purchase from other local businesses, service providers and farms. In addition, locally made purchases also contribute to our community’s tax base. That’s a win for everybody.

When you shop local you are helping to stimulate our local economy. Save some money by shopping where your home is. Shop local, play local and stay local, it’s good for your wallet and your community.
