Family and church and community friends of Mary B. Powell drove down Highway 35 to Barrow Road on April 10, stopping at Bryant Baptist Church in Capron to help Powell celebrate her birthday, commemorating 92 years of grace.
Powell is well known in her native area of Southampton County. She retired from Southampton County Public Schools after 33 years of teaching. She is an active member of Bryant Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, financial secretary and choir member.
She enjoys constructing puzzles, talking with neighbors and friends and especially eating out with her daughter, Michelle Powell.
