This fun event was sponsored by the community organization, Changing the Narrative. It was held at the MLK Center, March 27, and included 14 girls from the Franklin and Southampton community.
These girls, already beautiful, moved from station to station getting their nails, hair and faces made up by area professionals, for a complete “princess makeover” experience, and followed up with a professional photoshoot. Lunch was served as a culminating activity. This event brought great fun and self-confidence to all the girls — and heartwarming pride to all the adults attending. Make-over services provided by Kimberly Evans with Prezzon Nails (Kymmies Kreations), April Blythe and Carrie Smith with Avon, and Brittney Vandiford with Brittney Vandiford Photography.
Through fostering open and honest communication, Changing the Narrative aims to promote unity within and around the community with the hope of changing the narrative to eradicate racism and infuse love into the hearts of those around us. Incidental to this effort is to create opportunities for the diversity of our youths to gather together to experience fun activities in which they learn how much good we all have in common.
