UPDATE 12:45 a.m.: The Windsor Volunteer Fire Department reports the road has reopened and hazards have been secured. There remain no reported injuries to any people.

Earlier: Storm damage has been reported in southwestern Isle of Wight County.

The Windsor Volunteer Fire Department posted on Facebook that units were on scene in the area of Rhodes Drive and Colosse Road because of storm damage.

Rhodes Drive is shut down from Little Norfolk Road to Colosse Road, the post said. Power lines and trees are down in the area.

“Please avoid these areas while crews work to make the roads back passable,” the post stated. “Also use extra caution on the backroads due to storm damage to include trees down and possibly power lines as well.”

Dominion Energy and Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office were on scene, the post stated. Dominion Energy reported about 100 customers out of power in the area of Colosse Road.

Lt. Kim Davenport of the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office stated in an email there was some damage to Colosse Baptist Church.

“We cannot confirm that it was a tornado; possibly down draft winds,” she said.

There were tornado warnings in the area throughout the evening. The National Weather Service typically investigates such damage to confirm whether it was a tornado or straight winds.

Davenport said there were no injuries reported and that units are circulating the area to confirm there is no additional damage.
