SEDLEY – William Randolph “Billy” Wade, 86, passed away March 15, 2021 in his home. Born in Franklin and raised in Sedley, he was a son of the late Samuel R. Wade and Elma Newsome Wade Smith.

Billy was a 1952 graduate of Courtland High School and a former Virginia National Guardsman. He was a longtime Southampton County farmer and a former driver for Burgess Trucking. Billy was a former member of the National Farmers Organization, American Legion, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Sedley Ruritan Club. He was a lifelong member of Sedley Baptist Church and a longtime men’s Sunday school teacher.

Left to cherish his memory is a sister, Sylvia W. Henson (Fred) of Covington, Georgia; a brother, John R. Wade (Edna) of Sedley; a niece, Sheron W. Ross (Cleon); a nephew, John R. “Randy” Wade (Janet); a great niece, Jamie W. Elliott (Ralph) and their children, Ralphie, Madelyn and Isaiah; a great nephew, Wade Williams (Jessica) and their children, Emaline and Cooper John; and a great niece, Jalyn Wade; and a great nephew, R.J. Wade.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 19 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Sedley Baptist Church or the Rosemont Cemetery Committee, c/o Mildred Branche, 32306 Vicksville Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
