Rain turning to snow is forecast to begin falling late tonight in Southampton County and the city of Franklin, accumulating one to two inches by Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Wakefield, which issued the winter weather advisory, also forecasts there could be isolated places where three inches is possible. Higher accumulations are expected along and south of Route 58.

Lows will be around 31 degrees tonight, with a high around 39 tomorrow.

The advisory will stay in effect until 8 a.m. Thursday, and skies are expected to clear by the evening. Lows will around 21.

After a couple of clear days, though, there’s a 60% of snow and then 70% of rain returning on Sunday morning.

The agency cautions the public to plan on slippery road conditions, and that hazardous conditions might affect morning driving. Drivers are urged to drive cautiously.
