WINDSOR

A promise is a promise, right?

Because the staff and students at Windsor Elementary School (WES) contributed over $2,000 to the 2020 United Way campaign, Principal Ellen Couch had to fulfill her incentive — she would kiss one of the cows at the IWCS Land Lab.

Soon after the school fulfilled its end of the bargain, Couch moseyed over to the nearby lab and gave one of the cows a big smooch. Wonder what the animal thought of the unexpected gesture?

WES, Smithfield Middle, Carrollton Elementary and Carrsville Elementary schools raised over $2,600, the most of any location in the division.

According to spokeswoman Lynn Briggs, the other faculty, staff and students in county schools pledged almost $16,000 to charities through the United Way as part of the 2020 campaign.
