SEDLEY – Patrick Elmore Branche, 83, passed away Jan. 8, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Patrick was born Aug. 17, 1937 at home on one of the family farms, known as the Bulls Farm, near Sedley. He was the oldest of nine children of the late John Elmore Branche and Lottye Bulls Branche. He was also predeceased by a son, Joseph Patrick “Joey” Branche and three sisters, Carolyn N. Branche, Juanita B. Drake and Phyllis B. Cheatham.

He was a 1957 graduate of Southampton High School and a veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard. He was a longtime Southampton County Farmer and lifelong member of the Sedley Hunt Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Beverly Pond Branche; two daughters, Kimberly B. Tucker and Kelly B. Bailey; two sisters, Edna B. Wade (John) and Margaret Ann B. Connors (Mike); three brothers, W. Gilbert Branche (Mildred), Bobby E. Branche (Judi) and John E. Branche (Judy); a brother-in-law, Jim Cheatham; four grandchildren Brenna Tucker, Dillon Tucker, Ashley Avent, Robert Bailey IV; one great-grandchild, Caroline Everett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sedley Volunteer Fire Department or the Rosemont Cemetery Association.
